A young American Nicholas Simon who was murdered in an accident north of Gisborne was on a dream vacation to New Zealand and had just finished “a great day surfing with his love” when he passed away, according to his mourning familyOn Thursday of last week, a collision involving two vehicles on State Highway 2 (Matawai Rd) near Te Karaka, 30 km northwest of Gisborne, resulted in the death of Nicholas Isaac Simon and three other people suffering serious injuries.One of the cars was driven by Simon.According to Simon’s parents Dan and Sarah and sister Natalie, the 25-year-old recently landed in New Zealand with his girlfriend Brooke Buchanan for a month-long vacation.“While driving to their campsite after a lovely day surfing with his love,” the accident had occurred. He consistently extracted the nectar from each day of his life and had no fear of dying.“While it doesn’t alter the truth, it at least brings us some solace to know that he died while doing what he loved. We are certain that his spirit/energy has been unleashed and is circulating around everyone, spreading love across a much wider area.The family said that they were receiving support from friends and family “both locally and abroad.”
